From the everyday to the extraordinary, the work electric co-ops do makes it all possible. We play a fundamental role in the everyday life of the people and places we serve. Reliability is important not only for our reputations but also for the health, safety and productivity of our members.

Enjoying a movie night at home, a spontaneous trip out for ice cream, an evening at the local high school football game—whatever it is your family does to make lasting memories, Tennessee’s electric co-op employees work behind the scenes to power those. Co-ops across Tennessee are proud to energize family moments. Why? Because they have families too, and they understand the best moments in life are the ones spent together. They work hard every day to bring those moments to you.
Energizing Compassion
Never underestimate the power of co-ops coming together for the good of their communities. Energizing community means lending a hand to those who need it most. Whether that’s participating in a local food drive, working in your local animal shelter or holding a toy drive for children in need, co-ops step up to the plate. Every year, TECA holds a Day of Service across the state. This year, thirty-one separate community service projects were completed with 630 electric co-op employees volunteering approximately 1,300 hours to their communities. Energizing compassion is the heartbeat of our Tennessee co-ops.

Small businesses are the backbone of our communities. We know the dedication it takes to open and sustain a business. Tennessee electric co-ops work diligently to provide the electricity and broadband needed to make dreams a reality. In fact, electric co-ops power thousands of small businesses state-wide. Energizing these business owners means powering the dream of local entrepreneurs and strengthening economies by providing a unique sense of place to the people who call Tennessee home.
Energizing Life Lessons
Sometimes the best lessons learned happen outside of the classroom. Whether it’s the first time a student visits the nation’s capital with Washington Youth Tour, learning how to inspire others through Youth Leadership Summit or engaging with other students in yearly 4-H camp programs, our co-ops have partnered with schools across Tennessee for decades, and we’re still going strong, energizing life lessons and training up our next generation of leaders.

When jobs are created, communities thrive. Tennessee co-ops are energizing opportunity by providing reliable infrastructure and broadband access, attracting industries from across the globe. USDA rural economic development loan and grant programs offered by co-ops have awarded millions of dollars to their communities to recruit and retain jobs. The collaboration of co-ops with local governments means healthier communities, more jobs and brighter futures.

Co-ops energize connection in tangible ways, such as providing broadband services, connecting you to the people you love and supplying electricity that keeps the lights on and the coffee brewing. But Tennessee cooperatives provide intangible benefits too—like the ability to attend your local annual meeting and knowing you’re a member of the co-op family. There are few things more moving than watching cooperatives come to the aid of other co-ops across the country when disaster strikes from severe storms, hurricanes or other natural disasters. Co-ops unite for the betterment of their communities, but it’s not just natural disasters. They come together for a variety of reasons, such as advocating for policies that benefit rural communities, presenting a unified voice on issues affecting their members, or even joining together on renewable energy projects. Whatever the challenge, Tennessee co-ops energize cooperation and unity for the betterment of their members.
