Co-ops face challenges all around them, and it pays to be prepared. TECA and NRECA have partnered to develop a workshop to help prepare you to defend and repair the reputation of your co-op during and after major public events.
Developing a crisis communications plan is one of the best things that a co-op communicator can do to prepare. Unfortunately, this can be a major undertaking and it can be difficult to make this task a priority. This workshop is an opportunity to make crisis communications planning a priority while leveraging the resources of NRECA, TECA and other co-ops to make the process less of a burden.
It is impossible to complete an entire crisis communications plan in a two-day workshop, so attendees will be expected to participate in an orientation conference call and complete some homework in the weeks leading up to the workshop. Our goal is for attendees to the workshop to leave with a fully developed crisis communications plan that includes checklists, media releases and other resources. We are asking co-op communicators to help us identify the top five critical issues for your co-op. We will begin the plan with the five most popular topics. Additional topics may be added later.
We also know that many of our co-ops only have one or two communicators. A secondary goal of the workshop is to create a network that allows co-ops to assist one another when the primary communicator is stretched thin or is unavailable following a major event.
Together, we can be better prepared for critical events. Please make plans to join us for this important workshop.
